Ryan, tell me about it.. when I was just starting out I got 6 of my websites banned purely by accident for duplicate content. No one believes me when I say duplicate content resulted in this, but it's a fact. Took me almost half a year to get those sites reindexed.

Google's rules and regulations are very strict I have been spending around £100 per day and because I changed my URL I was suspended for 2 weeks, just for changing a bloody URL, they have the industry down to a tee, you can get annoyed but you will always go back to them as they are like god !!!!

Thanks Ghabuntu, I'm glad you found this post amusing.!

Unfortunately my experience with Google hasn't been positive in 2009. Just Google (heh) "Google bannings" or "Google adwords suspensions" and you'll find tons of information about this. It's a shame - I used to really admire Google and in fact interviewed with them (for a position, before I was independent) in the past. Hopefully they'll come around. I'm definitely willing to give them a second chance.

Lol. My very fav of your 2009 are that Google is only don't do evil in name, and that you learned to survive on your own cooking lol.

On a serious note, I've learned quite a lot from this really awesome summary you've put up here.

Learned some things I can apply in my 2010 as I'm on a quest to start my own business

Hi Dave. I can say that the two most valuable pieces of advice that were given to me were: (a) Take action - no matter what, just keep forward and (b) Be persistent, even if you encounter failure, know that everyone face it at the beginning.

Follow this and I'm sure you'll be fully independent by 2010! :)

I'm looking to become fully independent by the end of 2010... And because I currently work from home 3-4 hours a day, I can confirm some of the things you said; losing focus easily and becoming a workaholic are things likely to happen.
