Hey Udegbunam, I mainly meant people barging in when they push affiliate links. Otherwise, it's just interaction - it might be not the most polite at times (though that's arguable), but it's usually well meant. However, it's not the same when you talk to someone and suddenly someone (often with 0 followers) barges in and send you a bunch of affiliate links.

I don't have a problem with folks butting into my conversations on twitter as long as they are offering free info and not peddling their affiliate links or personal product.

I would guess that more than 99% of the people who do this are not business owners.

Hi Patricia.

I should've been more specific. I would say it's legitimate for a business owner to seek potential clients and help them. However, most people who barge into conversations are not business owners but are simply marketers looking to make a quick buck. Continuing my example, I highly doubt they know anything about weight loss other than the fact that there's a product, and if someone buys it, they get $X. Big difference, in my opinion.

Specifically, in my case, I remember discussing sleep apnea with someone and minutes afterwards getting a link to a CPAP machine . I almost felt like responding: really, and you know what a CPAP machine is? How it works? Whether it's relevant to all sleep apnea? Did you listen whether *I* need it (the conversation wasn't about me)? But I didn't. I just blocked & reported as spam. This is what I meant.

Hi Udi,
As I mentioned in another conversation, I use a service to provide me with potential twitter prospects. I've never barged into a conversation as the reports are 12-24 hours old. Some people have even thanked me for the information. But...that's just the experience I've had.
